Biggest Misconceptions About Torre’s Book

1. Torre has stained his legacy. Not so. No one will remember this book in ten years. But everyone will still remember his legendary run as manager of the NY Yankees.

2. Torre’s book missed its targets. The players are the ones who will be affected. Do you honestly think A-Rod never heard of that A-Fraud nickname before this point? Besides, everyone has known that he is a fraud for years. But do you honestly think that this book will affect guys like Jeter or Rivera? Are they really that soft?

3.Tell-all books are bad for the game. Especially when the players are still playing. Get with the times. This book is great for the game. Great publicity. Great story lines. Great hype for the upcoming season. This is the era of gossip columns, paparazzi, and blogs. Everyone’s hands are dirty with this stuff. You know you love reading about A-Rod and Madonna in the Hamptons. So don’t feign rage about Joe and his inane little book.

4. Joe will never be welcome in this town again. Remember cheering for Giambi or Pettitte? Hell, you’d cheer for Clemens again if it guaranteed you a World Series. So cut the crap and just admit that when it comes to Yankee heroes, you are willing to overlook a few minor character flaws.
